Bicycle tires direct: Mountain bike tires date code is “foolish”

Bicycle tires Direct is a tire manufacturer based in Germany.

In 2014, the company acquired a company in Canada and installed an automated system to identify the dates of each tire.

According to its website, the system “automatically checks the tire date code to ensure that it matches the manufacturer’s label, and to determine if the tire is compatible with the manufacturer.”

Direct has not responded to multiple requests for comment from Business Insider.

We’ve reached out to Direct for comment and will update this article when we receive a response.

In the past, Mountain Bike Tire Direct has partnered with bike retailers to sell Mountain Bike tires direct to customers.

In February, Mountain Bicycles told Business Insider that the company was “looking into” a new partnership with bike brands, but said it would only “do so after we get the correct date code from the manufacturer, as the date codes are often mislabeled or simply incorrect.”

In October, Mountain Bicycle said that the dates for its Mountain Bike tire were “outdated” and “unacceptable.”
